I Am the Cat
I am the cat that lapped the cream,
Mother forgot to put back in the fridge;
Now I am sleepy and happy to dream,
Of chicken, cheese and baked partridge!
Mother forgot to put back in the fridge,
Scraps of corned beef and edible leftovers,
Of chicken, cheese and baked partridge;
Cherry pie, apple tart and fruit rollovers.
Scraps of corned beef and edible leftovers,
I dined upon with carnivorous feline delight;
Cherry pie, apple tart and fruit rollovers,
I must admit I took the occasional bite.
I dined upon with carnivorous feline delight,
All the goodies Mother left on the table;
I must admit I took the occasional bite,
Of any food uncovered where I was able.
All the goodies Mother left on the table,
Now I am sleepy and happy to dream;
Of any food uncovered where I was able,
I am the cat that lapped the cream!
