I Am Thankful For
Standing here I begin
to take in my worth
So much I have achieved
to date on this earth
My mind drifts back as my
face is kissed by a breeze
Blessed through life, struggles
never being at ease
I have my children who are
my joy and my pain
They have helped me in
remaining blissfully sane
One marriage, but even if
it didn't work out you see
I could never be with one
who'd not let me be me
I'm raising a child and it
doesn't matter she not mine
I love her unconditionally,
as if it was by design
Never questioned any of my
life's major decisions
They've always led me through
life's insightful visions
I'm always learning I've never
done anything 100% right
But I've learned from my mistakes
it's a never ending fight
Grateful for my friends on soup,
you've all been so great
Each of you with your amazing
talent and unique traits
I love how we are continually
growing you see
Each new day we are never
who you once use to be
Take pride in your struggles
they help you to grow
So very many lessons in life
I've learned, I'll never just plateau
So I take inventory of my life,
announcing my benediction
Spreading words of what I'm grateful for,
my story of nonfiction
