I Am Reborn a Thousand Times

I am reborn a thousand times Emulating the myth of phoenix I reconstruct my image from ashes Each time I die crossing opaque layers of consciousness Rendered impregnable by amnesia of death and entering the cosy suffocating darkness of wombs I am reborn a thousand times in this world of ether water and earth Brother, sister, daughter, mother, wife, son These identities change as I, shedding and wearing bodies like a shawl, pass onto from one world to another The asphyxiating silence of cremation ground turns desires to dust each time I am placed on pile of wood I cannot see my formless essence in a mirror
