I Am Poetry
I am African,
Your native air.
I am Whom?
You ask.
I am Poetry.
Ever, every where.
I am the lyrics to every romantic song
I am what is right from all that is wrong
I am the receiving of lost that is always found
I am the lifting up, whenever your heart is down
I am the sharing of what is mine, to make it also yours
I am the meaning of what living life was created for
I am the resting moon, the crying stars, the smile from the sun
I am the nature of love and of pain that is one
I am the chanting dance for war and for peace
And I am the spirit praising warriors alive and deceased
Because I am African,
Your native air.
I am Whom?
You ask.
I am Poetry.
Ever, Everywhere
