I Am

I am trying to stay alive I wonder if I can escape from it I hear bells ringing and tingling I see bars and chains around my hands I want to free myself from my mistakes I am trying to stay alive I pretend to accept my fate I feel cold and empty I touch the cold metal bars in between my fingers I worry that my escape won't be sudden I cry until my mistakes wash my tears away I am trying to stay alive I understand that I might perish I say everyday I am going to make it through I dream my mistakes will go away I try to forget the bars and chains that make me suffer I hope my mistakes don't resemble misery and pain I am trying to stay alive
