inspired by a poem of Peter Duggan
Hush now, listen; do you hear it?
listen carefully, it is all around you,
within the rustle of the leaves
and deep down in the earth.
Tell me what it is you hear?
do you understand this sound?
It is the heart beat of life itself, so
place your hand upon the ground.
Feel the surging beat quietly rumbling
even up in the sky it still beats on
hug the old oak tree, feel the life
within its bark as the sap flows.
Watch the birds and insects
as they flitter by, they too know
and rejoice as they soak up the sun beams.
So pause and listen and you will know too.
