Humans in Flight

Glimmer in the sky
Leaves a trail of powdered white
Roar engulfs the ground
Hundreds of souls are shuttled
At nearly the speed of sound

So interesting how differently people interpret this one. In fact Robert hit the nail on the head as far as my intent for this poem. I remember as a kid staring up up at every jet that flew over in awe..,especially the low ones

Beautiful tanka that invokes images of Judgment Day. This is how I envision it, Joe. I enjoyed discussing philosophy in that other poem yesterday and appreciate your input. We do think alike! Love, Carolyn

Boeing just introduced their latest model of 747 jet the other day. Your tanka describes a flight on one of these planes very well.
