Humanity

Humanity Today alone I’ll bother you For some money or some food I promise after that I’m done I’ll leave you alone for good I haven’t eaten anything And I really don’t ask much It’s not like I want caviar, or wine Or things like such I really haven’t had a meal Let alone, one drop to drink If you were in my shoes, dear sir You’d be hungry, don’t you think? How would you feel if you were me And I’d be you, oh wow! Just think about it for a sec Just do it, come on now! I would be walking around real smug Enjoying life and all While you were sorry like a dog And feeling really small I’d bet you’d say a thing or two Or curse some people out ’These greedy bastards have no heart!’ Yeah, I bet that’s what you’d shout And honestly I wouldn’t mind For I too am but a man So I would show some love and care And come up with a plan I’d take you out to lunch in town I’d give you what you need Be it money, clothes, new shoes or what I’d do that, yes, indeed! 'cause that is real humanity Oh, wait, you do agree? Okay, I’m glad you understand Now do the same for me. Wendy Nipas
