Howlin' Wolf

inhales in shadows
takes inspiration from gloom
moonlight penetrates
creates an old fashion song
simply called singing the blues

Congratulations on winning an Honorable Mention in my contest, TANKA - THE PIVOT, Harry. The headnote is well employed (please see my blog TANKA NOTES for elaboration). Yes, tanka is like "singing the blues". The longing oozes out of this well written tanka. Love, Su

We have coyotes up on the escarpment breathing the gloom and boy, do they sing the blues. Great way to portray these critters and I will think of your verse when I hear them again. Love Lizzie
