How Poetry Began

How Poetry Began Gentle spirit came to visit noble man sent poetic verse throughout the land Declared she, I am the original Muse your heart , soul and mind seek to use Write and sing, love so deeply with me we together shall plant a poetry tree As our hearts join to this world sail love and hope shall forever prevail The Universe I have long ago tread every galaxy my words have been read You , mankind are the last I will meet the poetic ground now underneath my feet Open your hearts and see with new eyes this new way will defeat all the lies Beam of true light shall open your mind you will be the first in all poetic kind With this visit the original Muse departed poetry spread in each heart it was started Now we seek ever to find this greatest Muse to prove how brilliantly she did choose! Robert . . . This one is a most marvelous write. I can relate to the theme here very much. This one is another "7" in my book. Our Muse is there when we each summon her, hopefully most of the time. Enjoyed this immensely!! Best Wishes, Gary

It is too bad the deadline passed. I love the image of planting a poetry tree. I can just picture it blooming and forming new words that are blown on the wind when the leaves fall.

Peter, do read my Acheron poem...I put many hours and much sweat into it. The most time I have spent on a poem in over a decade of writing! I think its my best work so far.

Thanks Olive but we will never know. I missed the deadline so this write never was entered. Yet I still had the pleasure and inspiration of writing this one . And that will suffice..

oh man, I am so sorry this lovely poem got left out. The same thing happened to me just yesterday. I was finally going to post my rain poem and lo and behold, the contest had quickly finished filling up. I got into this one you missed by the skin of my teeth as well.
