House of Glass
We’ve built our foundations on feelings alone,
How were we to know that they don’t last?
Always we are one tremble away form destruction;
A breath from the shattering truth.
Sometimes I dance alone in this house of glass
Praying to be seen by you.
We sit and wait for it to come down around us
Staring into each others’ eyes and seeing nothing.
And feeling nothing.
Warm skin, but an icy touch.
I am numb to it all.
Shattered glass will no longer hurt me;
Cutting words have found my heart.
Singing now the anthem of the sunrise,
And we smile at “goodbye”.
