Hospitals Are

Hospitals are designed (a) to make you appreciate your bed at home (b) to prompt many unanswerable questions (c) to facilitate smooth patient care (d) to never complain about your wife’s cooking again Referrals to a psychiatrist are made when (a) you become catatonic after having no sleep for a week (b) after complaining about a noisy roommate you start convulsing with frustration (c) you ask the nurse for a sleeping aid and she brings warm milk (d) You are all set for discharge but the Dr is delayed in surgery all day Reflecting on a hospital stay makes you (a) wonder how you survived the long nights (b) vow never to eat chicken broth again (c) appreciate there are no drafts behind when you get up for a walk (d) note how quiet the house really is

Nice poem, It is reminding me about my 25 days in the hospital, when I was stabbed by some criminals from Work, Ward mates, Assistance of some Wonderful Nurses and doctors.

great example for us to follow, Suzanne. Very relatable even for this wife/visitor who stayed in the ER all night recently b/c of shortage of beds. Talk about noise. Thanks for sharing.

You have quite a list here. I hate hospitals. They are usually understaffed. Loved most of your questions, especially on the sleeping pill and the chicken soup which I hate. You deserved your POTD.

You have prepared an interesting list ! This poem, written in a half humorous and half serious way is full of truth. Hospital is the last place we like to be admitted in. When we lie on a hospital bed, we begin to think of the cozy comfort of our own bed room at home. Suzanne, I can so well relate. Being away for a few days I missed your POTD. If I can stop laughing long enough, I will finish this. Love it! " to never complain about your wife’s cooking again" -- ain't that the truth! I'll never complain about anything as long I am home. She can have a boyfriend as long as they don't kick me out. Even death seems more appealing. Well deserved POTD!
