Hope

In a back room late at night, Along with the things that give us a fright, An unrecognized hope sheds a light. A light that is comforting, caring and kind, Showing the world that love isn't blind. But in the back room, Hate overtakes us. Drowning out love an dleaking out like festering pus. Stabbing love in its beautiful heart, Overtaken by rage, Revenge and despair. Hope has a way of letting us down, Filling us up like a helium balloon, Only to pull out the needle too soon. Destroying the good, Embracing the evil, Worming its way into out hearts, Dredging up our plans for tomorrow. Don't ever get your hopes up They like to tell me, For it has a way of letting you down, Down to despair. Don't be afraid to lock it up tight, Leave it alone in its unrecognized light.
