Honeysuckle Days

I went for a walk today through our neighborhood. It took me awhile to identify what smelled so good. Honeysuckle perfume and freshly mowed grass. Sweet and spicy. Like your aftershave in the early, early morning. The dog did well on the leash Sit, Stay, Heel Just like you taught I wonder if the scent in the air reminded him of you, too. Oh! And you should have seen the sky! Saturated and cloudless Clear and crisp as the desert We used to call it Arizona Blue. Isn’t it just like God to breathe that color into this day? I miss you. Come back soon. We’ll walk together and make memories Crystal and sweet So when we’re old, we can reminisce about honeysuckle days.

Yes, I was missing my husband - memory has a keen sense of smell, doesn't it?
