Homecoming

I came home that night To a house in the dark The soot was everywhere, The fire's art Everything touched A reminder Of everything that had been All things perceived I couldnt believe That you did this to me. Something in me died that night Was it my love or was it my hope I always thought that we would make it through In my naivety I truly believed That love conquered all That we would win And that no illness on earth Would ever intervene Now I sit and I ask myself Where is my peace That will set me free?
