Home Again

His trip took him across many miles That might have seemed unending - But he did not notice. His flight was uneventful And should have been quite peaceful - But he did not notice. The roads traversed green countryside And might have looked serene - But he did not notice. The people gathered close around And could have made him self-conscious - But he did not notice. The words spoken were kind and grateful And should have been most comforting - But he did not notice. He was home again at last, A true hero and patriot - To rest forever in eternal stillness.
