His Only Chance

She was his only chance to rid himself of this curse. At first it was just a ploy to get her to say those words. His one and only chance to leave his monstrous form behind and with it this prison he was in. But she changed him. He could hear her saying those words, "I love you" but they were only in his mind, not from her heart. Time went by, his cold heart melting before her, but he could not do this. He freed her from this hell, his hell. He felt no pain, no fear, just hope. The hope of seeing her again. The day was dawning and with it his final hour. The simple drop of a petal to signal his end. Until she came back! What he didn't know was that he changed her as much as she changed him. Her skies were brighter and not just the color of the rotting pages in her books. They freed each other from their own hell. Now they can just be... Free.
