Whenever I walk inside I feel at home; enraptured, from shelf to shelf I roam till a book catches my eye as I flitter by smell sends me high rapidly while senses comply inner needs to satisfy, like a bee that sips a honeycomb... whenever I walk inside I feel at home. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Contest by Kai Michael Neumann

A wonderful poem, Paul. I also like the library. They don't seem as popular as they once were. Hope you had great Christmas :)

Hi Paul, I do love the smell of books. I also love being able to feel their touch, too read, while holding the weight of the book. Your poetic flair does take me there, into a library, where my imagination can fly. What wonderful visions your words do bring to my mind Paul. What knowledge we can glean through those old volumes my friend. A Fave. Have a wonderful weekend. Your friend always....Mike.

Thank you, Mike. I am in no doubt that many writers/readers feel at home in libraries. I love them, especially the ones where I can do research. Best regards, my friend. // paul

Can just smell the leather-bound volumes. Mmmm. Inhaling deeply! Wonderful, moving (dare I say it) -- nostalgia! (Modern libraries are so darn digital). Beautifully done, Paul. ~ Gershon

Hi Paul, You describe exactly how I felt every time I received my new study books. Wrote my degrees later than most! I adore the smell of a new book and as a result can't wait to read it. Oceans of luck for the contest, or have you won, sorry don't follow contests but this one is certainly a winner! Warm regards, Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, I love it when I can talk to people who can relate to my love for books and their smell. New and old books differ in smell, quite distinctive! Thank you for believing in this entry. Warm regards // paul

Paul, oh this is so beautifully penned. I love libraries and used book stores (not new, too expensive) and I know that smell and that lure like a bee sips, I spent a lot of my childhood wandering the library, sitting on the floor reading, I could get lost in the books. So, I love this poem and must FAV it, best of luck in the contest, too.

How well you capture the excitement "like a bee that sips honeycomb" a voracious reader feels upon stepping into a library. Even as a child I felt this type of wonder and awe, the desire to know all the stories in all the books. You made a challenging form seem easy, my friend. Always beautiful poetry from you. I'm at my sister's preparing for Thanksgiving. Now I should remember to be thankful for literature! Love, Carolyn

A real reader knows the pleasures which are derived from reading books, Carolyn. I see you are doing that right now with "Fear...". This form is not an easy one, and I feel I could have better. All the best for Thanksgiving. Love // paul

PS - Today I started reading "Fear: Trump in the White House" and the contents are (intentionally) shocking. There is something so special about reading a good book by a skilled writer.

Thank you, Jan. Kindles might be easy to carry around, I suppose, but they are 'cold' and I can't see me having a 'love affair' with one! Hugs // paul

Lovely verse Paul, you're right there's something about the smell of books and the knowledge we get from them. E.books are not the same. Good luck. Tom.

I totally agree with you, Tom. Ebooks do nothing for me, even though I've written one myself!! Nothing beats the printed version. Thank you. Regards // paul
