Hey Old Friend
How do you know me? How can you tell?
How can you read my heart so well?
Did God place his hands over my soul?
I will never forget that connection unfold...
I trembled inside..yet I knew from the start,
You knew me without knowing..you read my heart,
And I wish for one day to have my brother back,
I would weep to explain exactly where I was at,
Words left unspoken...yet you already knew,
The love was very real and my heart spoke the truth,
You stared and stared like I was a mystery to see,
But what you saw was the resemblance you need,
I knew it was much bigger than any words I could say,
We are different from the rest..our eyes see through the pain,
We know the process...we understand the time,
We're willing and patient...we have the same mind,
We question..we search..in love we believe,
Our strength goes beyond what we can see,
It was like looking at my twin...it took my breath away,
You could say all the words I couldn't get out to say,
The same heart..the same mind..the same questions we seek,
The only difference was you took your time away before me,
So now I can tell you who I truly am,
When our eyes met..it was a part of God's plan,
It was love and simplicity...it was never a complex role,
It was about sharing the same loss..the same pain that we know,
It was healing to my heart to hear you speak,
That there was actually someone out there with the same heart as me,
The one who dug deeper to see..the one who truly cares,
Who would go out of his way to search and stare,
Of course it's intimidating to meet the same soul,
To face yourself in the mirror and in healing becoming whole,
I will see you again...I will come back home,
But you won't recognize this heart until you're alone,
All the stories and characters and leading roles...
Are opposite of the kingdom that we call home,
Those stories played out with earthly needs,
Our home goes beyond what our eyes will see..
