He's Near
I see him on the street corner,
Under the glare of the moon
He waits patiently, casually,
Knowing I’ll be home soon.
I see him in my passenger seat,
Coolly nodding to the beat.
He gazes knowingly in my eyes,
Life for him is no surprise.
He grazes my hand as I cross the street,
I pick up the pace, shuffling my feet.
I can’t seem to escape my ultimate fate.
Destiny is near and I have no fear.
Only a secret yearning for his comforting arms,
Death, dear, don’t leave me out here for too long.
