Hero To Zero
Napoleon's French infantry pierced through Russia,
only to get different results in Waterloo.
Romans had the world on their palms,
only to be sacked by Barbarians.
Atlantis reached its civilization's Zenith,
only for fate to drag it underneath.
Sometimes I top in Poetrysoup,
other times my name is void.
Olympic gold medal holders cry
when their medals embrace new necks.
Einstein said WWIV won't be fought with nukes,
but sticks and stones.
Whatever goes up,
eventually comes down...
