Here I Stand
The stubborn digging in of my heels
into the flesh of life’s relationships.
An inability to release last night’s dreams.
Firm resolution,
commitment that blinds me to distraction,
and clarifies the truth.
Here I stand, it is where I belong.
This is a dangerous place;
filled with dark shadows
cast across the landscape in frightening forms.
Pools of quicksand await a single misstep.
The promise of painless paths of platitudes
crisscross the road ahead.
Discernment must be wretched from each moment.
A deeper knowledge must be held close
and the sparkling pixie dust shaken off.
There is a rightness to this place.
Entering this forest untrained, unskilled, unwitting.
Walking with this newfound faith that flickers and falters
but remains.
What breath of knowing has led me here?
What will hold me safe as I enter my destiny?
