Her Sleep So Deep That Now It's Dark

It's now dark because she sleeps Greedy Loss round about us creeps Snatching souls, and thus into homes seeps This shadow of death and there weeps A child, a father, whose heart into sorrow now steeps So sudden, so awfully came this slumber The reality that she has to be six feet under Only this thought causes the heart to shudder The thought of facing each day without her Our friend, our teacher, our mother With unwilling hearts, we drag our feet to move on Pressing together, despite feeling forlorn Though she was part of our dream, Lord knows how torn Asunder are our hopes; our tomorrows, will they be born? Lord, crown us with courage, from our ashes beauty do form From where else can our help then come? For we already weak, then the strongest warriors are some Which now lay fallen and we feel so lost, undone So we look up for strength as first onward we crawl, walk some, and one day maybe even run We trust the Sun of Righteousness to sweep away Darkness, and on that day again to wake her up
