Her Genes

I wish I had her genes... She is so much prettier than I. She has long, soft blonde hair, and sparkling blue eyes. But if I looked like her, would I be me? Would I have the same thoughts? The same dreams? Or would I just be her, and not realize who I used to be? If I was her and she was me, would she think the same? Would I wish to be her? Would she wish to be me? No, I would not wish that on her, I would not dare. So I'll just sit and wonder, who would I be, if I had her genes?

i have sisters, and i know you girls always have way lower images of yourselves than everyone else does of you. I know for sure that if you were the other girl in your poem, you wouldn't enjoy camping, and you wouldnt write killer haiku. girls who people deem physically beautiful, tend to love themselves too much, and can hardly spare a thought for anything else. I have yet to meet a model type who loves poetry or anything substantial in life. fashion and reality tv are as deep as they go

Very true, with many thats all they know, because thats what they were raised to believe in. Parents can be control freaks if they want to be. Trust me, my boyfriends ex is 20 and still lets her parents rule her life. I'm glad I had artistic parents with an "I don't care" attitude. Artistic people are more fun than model types anyway.

Nice reflection, Kayleen. Personally I think you're fine as you are. They always say that the grass is greener on the other side, which, of course, it is, wherever you stand. Good write. #7. Viv
