Her Demon

She's twisted and torn, turned inside out, With yesterday gripping her foot, She's prevented from enjoying any of today, From living the life that she could, But it's not the law, friends, enemies or foes, Nobody takes her to task, Instead it's the ghost who walks by her side, A shadow from the days of her past, Whispering, in dreams, the road she has walked, Reminding her what she has done, Telling her not to walk a new path, That new thoughts should never be thunk. On the outside she's fine, a smile and a nod, No sign of a terrible storm, It's all in her head, anxiety and pain, On the inside she's twisted and torn.

Well written!! Loved this piece. It’s relatable. At times we’re all broken from the inside and the last haunts us.
