Heaven Waits
Heaven never rests
While pinecones, green with youth
Cling to promises the sun will conquer-
Heat waves rising off pavement
Covering centuries called progress
Wings, heavy with fatigue, settle
For any patch of green to rest
Unable to locate the wetlands
Drained to rivers that now run
Straight to shareholders, blinded
By greed
Only at night, away from the city
Lights, can I see the stars
Invite travel to a natural world
Untouched by man
Untouched
By Man
