Heaven On Earth

Beyond the gloom and grey of worldly ills I pass through flowered fields and rolling hills. A mountain sleeps beneath great oaks and pines That shade the giant ferns and climbing vines. There is a spring that flows up from the ground With nothing but tranquility around. It is the place I go to be alone To sit and think upon my pauper's throne. Sometimes I think about things said and heard. Seek clarity in mem'ries time has blurred. I'll think about my loved ones who have passed And all the years I've squandered living fast. As shadows lengthen 'neath the tiring sun And all the battles deep within are won. I always kneel and thank God for his grace Then feel His presence in my special place. 4/29/2021 by Daniel Turner

Good Morning Once Again Daniel. Hello. I turned to this entry because your title caught my eye. Allow me to say this is an entry to be read out loud with emphasis and feeling. Your words read very smooth and the rhyme was never forced or fake. Also I very much liked the quiet voice and tone that is so fitting for anyone's special place. Thank you for sharing your poetic talent. Have a wonderful morning and day. Keep enjoying poetry and poetrysoup. (smile)

Congrats Dan, Love it, I almost bought a Pauper's throne once but, I couldn't afford a pauper's palace to put it in. It's comforting to know you are still on the throne......as is should be... take care my friend

Thank you Andrea. These are supposedly rhyming couplets in iambic pentameter but I understand your confusion because I usually do write sonnets. How are you doing today? Feeling better?
