Hearts
HEARTS
Somewhere back in time it started,
The beating of two lonely hearted,
Synchronized by times now charted,
And there they stood together.
*
On a grassy, sunlit hill
Those two hearts made their appeal
For one another's love so real,
While not a sound was uttered.
*
One heart looked in the others eyes
And saw love there to no surprise.
Then at once, both realized
Their love for one another.
*
Innocent, and not really knowing,
Those two hearts their love bestowing
Their love to one another showing
As the world and time went by.
*
It isn’t really fair they say,
For hearts to be in love this way,
Keeping their secrets locked away,
But there they stood together.
*
For what did those two sad hearts seek
When together they did meet?
Was it for love to be complete,
Which they could find in no other?
*
Was it truly in the stars
That those two hearts with all their scars
Would find love where morality bars
Their loving one another?
*
Now this grassy sunlit hill
Where two hearts made their appeal,
Is standing desolate, parched, and still
And not a sound is uttered.
