Heart Wide Open
Before I met you, my life was starting to crumble
Along every road were bumps that made me stumble
I learned at a young age to close up my poor heart
To stop a relationship before it could even start
I walked around half-dead, living in the darkness
Seeing nothing, loving no one feeling less
Then one day the clouds began to roll away
And I saw the beautiful sun light up my way
To my surprise things didn't seem all bad
I wasn't aware of what potential I really had
You saw through the mess I had made of my life
And even dared to make me your loving happy wife
So take my heart and keep it forever safe dear
And know that I will eternally be so very near
To hold you, to love you, to support and care
And all my hopes and fears I promise to share
I used to be closed up wishing and hoping
That someone would hold my heart wide open
