Healing

the clouds broke today. not even the memory of your puppy-warm eyes can bring on the rain. in this mall floating amidst the nameless faces i am whole. i can smell. i can taste. i can feel. i can love. again. feet defying gravity, denying despair the solace of my bed, putting left before right and right before left, then repeating. past bazaars and pet shops with their puppy-dog eyes, past the passing people with eyeless faces i float to the door. outside the skies are dark, rain hinting wetness with it ozone threat, and the sun scampered away. but inside me the clouds broke today.
