They drug me through the village streets,
And threw me at the Teacher's feet."
"She's a sinner caught in the act."
"She deserves death, that's a fact."
All they saw was my sin,
Not my repentant heart within.
The Teacher wrote with his finger in the sand,
Then looked up, made this demand:
"Whoever has no sin cast the first stone."
I trembled in fear, waiting my sin to atone.
But one by one I heard the stones fall,
And soon I was surrounded by no one at all.
The Teacher looked at me with gentle eyes,
"Does no one condemn you, neither do I."
"Go and sin no more," he said,
And all my fear and shame just fled.
He looked at me and saw my heart,
He saw the whole and not a part.
He saw me, not just my sin.
I was changed, ne'er the same again.
