He Is Risen
On a day so long ago
There was a man that we should know
He lived a life in God’s pure light
Doing always what is right
Healed sick and the oppressed
A blessed life, the very best
Yes Jesus lived a perfect life
But He also suffered so much strife
For doing good He was condemned
Nailed cruelly to a cross of wood
Why such rewards for all the good
Beaten with a whip so cruel
By those with the religious rule
He gave His life and he bled and died
We know right at the end He cried
Forgive them Father for their deeds
And I’ll come back to meet their needs
A borrowed tomb was His resting place
After three days He rose in grace
He’s risen and the stone is rolled away
What was prophesied came true that day
Now we have a Savior up above
Who sacrificed His life because of love
His tomb is empty; there is not a body there
His death and resurrection is a victory we should share
