Having a Guest

We do not have a guest room, Though we’re waiting for a guest; And even if we had one, I don’t think she’d be impressed. Our visitor’s low-maintenance; She has no strong demands. The lack of guest-room privacy We know she understands. What’s utmost in importance Is the chance for her to schmooze.* She could have stayed in a hotel, But that’s not what she’d choose. We try to make it comfortable, Despite our lack of space. A sofa bed is where she’ll sleep, But here’s the saving grace: At least she knows she’s welcome here. Our arms are open wide; And everything she really needs We’re happy to provide. It’s not the Ritz, so luxury Is what we surely lack, But somehow it must be okay, ‘Cause she keeps coming back! *to converse, chat, catch up

Taking in a guest can be a daunting proposition... But if you're lucky enough to find one as accommodating and grateful as she, then it will be an enjoyable experience. BRAVO Ilene!! Best wishes, Keith

Wow, you have such a wonderful gift. I adore all your poems. I don't get on the soup much anymore but when I do I have to stop and read one of your wonderful poems before I log off. I wish I were as prolific as you.

Accomodations will suffice when invitors treat you so nice. A lonely room with fancy trimmings. Just can't compare to heart filled brimmings. :)
