Have Mercy, Father
I
In need of washing my eyes clean with Holy Water,
For I've seen some evil that'll make satan scream.
Lo! Isn't the devil Man himself following his plan,
To be master of souls, to covert every inch of land?
I have stepped on human bones, heard them crack,
Heard the hiss of the wind thru the skulls in the dark.
Walked the graves, seen an exhumed corpse with no head.
Oh The world. It is to be feared.
II
Father,
Immerse me once more in The Living Water
For I have strayed so far from The Good Road.
Touch me with Thy Grace, do lighten this load.
The world may be my enemy, I too has become its foe.
I have led down men who saw the True light in me.
Even when it waned, they still saw the magic from Thee.
I was the rock upon which their seed was sown,
And how long they wait, no fruits as their own.
I took to my pen and thundered to the underworlds,
My eyes yet blind, my ears deaf to thy calls:
"My child Gerald, why bring to thy father such pain?"
"Have mercy Father, for I have become another Cain."
