("Howling Rock", City of Rocks, 2016) Hate Speech My dogs bark into the night scared and excited about something in the dark coyotes or deer or maybe just their own shadows. It makes me think of ‘Hate Speech’ laying in bed wishing I could get back to sleep. I think how I may not like what they have to say, but will defend their right to say it. Except in this case, Not! as I know, being just dogs I can control their speech. All it takes is letting them in, distracting them with a little comfort and security. I think about the absurdity of ‘Hate Speech’ in humanity the criminalization of thoughts and feelings expressed as passionate, desperate, fearful cries in the dark. The absurdity of the arbitrariness of it all, just like with the dogs, regardless if their cries are justified or not it all comes down to if I want to hear it or not. And right now I don’t. It used to be you couldn’t speak badly about the powerful, the lords and priests and those above your station. Today the tides have changed and you can’t speak badly about those without power, the persecuted, weak, unwashed, unwanted and apparently so inferior they need protection, even from mere words. But of course this will change as today’s powerful become tomorrow's persecuted and vice a versa, so on, and so forth, ad nauseam. In the night the dogs are quiet settled now into their beds. It’s a peaceful silent night with snow all around, just how I like it. And even if I’m still not getting any sleep it’s some consolation to be the one in power controlling the kind of violent speech I hate imposing the kind of peaceful silence I want. Of course, nobody cares what I think, Lord of all I survey, except the dogs. And thank goodness for the dogs. (12/4/23)

I can understand the concern for the Palistinian children, and innocent Palistinians being slaughtered, but I find it difficult to allow or acknowledge students on campus (Ivy league some of them, where the educated should know better…), the anti-semitism vitriol spreading world-wide in all walks of life. It is disgusting and disgraceful. When one comes across information like facts below regarding the slaughter on 7.10.23. “The world has to decide who to believe”. This world is truly HELL. So do we go with “the Flow”, or do we stand and take a side? Heaven or Hell? Barking Dogs? Which side’s barking dogs?

Harvard says, "Gas the Jews" is protected speech, but we all know how they'd react to angry mobs chanting, "Hang the Blacks" or "Stone all Women"... there would be no equivocating in the administration's desire to protect those students (and their own reputation). At this point (after decades of controversy) I think Harvard's reputation is irreputably damaged, at least for those of US outside the DC to Boston corridor.

We take a side, and that choice determines our fate. It's been very interesting to see so many out themselves as anti-semite terrorist supporting (self-serving, self-identified well meaning) useful idiots... The cool thing is it'll be hard for them to go back. Once a Nazi always a Nazi right! The sad thing is that Hamas and their supporters are like Nazis on steroids (Nazis without remorse).

As far as dogs go, hey they're just dogs being dogs, useful and loving idiots.

The world is the belly of the beast growling, has been for quite some time, and the beast will not be satiated until it has eaten all of us. The “woke” women marching on campus and in the streets churning out their vitriol towards Israel, should immerse themselves in below facts – so much for their stance on women’s rights (and children’s rights). Where is their "united"... "voice" for their fellow women (and children)?

Yesterday I immersed myself in the U.S. House Education Committee hearing, questioning Harvard's, UPenn's, and MIT's Presidents about each school's actions on antisemitism in the wake of the October 7th attacks. Enlightening and alarming. This is happening world wide, in campuses (and on the streets, in work places, in schools). Excellent poem, Moore, there should be more of these poems. For surely, poetry, is the epitome of freedom of speech....and dare I suggest, "humanity". Strong write Moore, this one into my favourites, it makes you think long and hard about it all. The photo … love. Warm regards, Life’s-a-Bitch.
