Harmony
The keys of the piano,
Hammer in my head,
The melody forthcoming,
Like a story read,
Images and memories,
Tie phrases together,
And the notes become slurred,
Where I can’t remember,
Exactly what was given,
What promises made,
Where our love was forgotten,
Like actors on a stage,
Scenes unfolded before me,
Of happier times,
Tears do not blur the vision,
Of this flawed design,
I may stroke the keys in life,
But the harmony never wavers,
Yet I relive it every night,
The story never changes,
The tears falling from on high,
Let them help me play,
Together we make the story as beautiful as we can,
Until the pain goes away.
