Happy To Be Here

Happy to be here Is there someone you know, who's dark days only grow, And they can't say, they're happy to be here When a bright, new day breaks, but, they're afraid to awake, And they won't say they're happy to be here refrain And they can't say they're happy to be here There's a rainbow, it's true, it's color's, fading hues, And they can't find any joy in living And a bird when it sings, doesn't mean anything, There's no meaning in their song of beauty Bridge ooh and I feel bad for them...... ooh and I feel bad for them...... And their friends, family, just want them to be free, but their thoughts, keep them enchained, in prison When their hands and their feet, have been bound endlessly, and their only companion is sorrow And a new day is born, but they feel so forlorn, and the echoes just bellow with laughter refrain And they can't say their happy to be here Bridge oooh and I feel bad for them oooh and I feel bad for them Every day is a task, so they put on new masks, so that no one can see, they've been crying Like the tears of a clown, when no one else is around, How can anyone know what they're feeling? Bridge oooh and I feel bad for them oooh and I feel bad for them And they say there's a pill, but they haven't got the will, they say no pill, can fill, all that's empty So they live day to day, and they kneel down and pray Please forgive me, dear God, for what I'm thinking Bridge oooh and I feel bad for them oooh and I feel bad for them So you go the next day, want to wipe their tears away, but, you get there, too late, to save them Bridge oooh and I feel bad for them oooh and I feel bad for them They... just... couldn't... say... they're... happy... to... be... here! "I feel bad for them" My heart aches for them. I wish there was something I could do to make it all better, besides a call, a thought and a prayer. Your thoughts caress gently around me. I wish many knew, that we are "Happy" they are here. This is beautiful and emotional, all at the same time. ~ Brandy

John, wonderful lyrics, it is a sad write and a true write, so many find Christmas a difficult time, I think for many it highlights how much they have lost and they just cannot find any joy. A simple gesture can mean the world to them, perhaps you will be the only person to acknowledge them in a day, yes reach out and bring joy to someone, well done _Constance

Hi John, Your songwriting skills continue to amaze me. These lyrics are so apt and essential during these trying times. Mental illness is real. People nationwide find themselves depressed because of Covid. It is so important to reach out to loved ones that battle depression daily; your song title and core of your lyrics, express so well, they cannot articulate ” Happy To Be Here.” As always excellent lyrics. Have a wonderful day- Alexis

Thanks Beata for the kind visit and scripture, Jesus also said, "God is a Spirit and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and TRUTH" John4:24 I'm always surprised when "Christians" continue to celebrate this pagan holiday, not even the day of his birth and everyone knows it!

Beautifully upbeat message even though the subject is melancholy...new day breaks, but, they're afraid to awake...When their hands and their feet, have been bound endlessly, and their only ..companion is sorrow... For me this is a hit song that should be set to music. The line that got me the most: but, you get there, too late, to save them...this is the essence for me. So sad, yet so true. A precious write this is, John, and I am saving it in my FAVES. Wishing you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
