Halloween Night
Oh dear, my heart was beating fast
It couldn't have been better
Halloween night was here
At last, the neighborhood would be so austere
I was dressed as a little princess
Always wanting to be the lovely lady
The one caring not to be a mess
Even if I do be in love with everything that does be shady
I was ten years old
I did feel so bold
I was with my friend
The one since I had always known since I don't know when!
We had been successfully trick or treating
A small candy treasure had we been amassing
When oh sheer wonder, we did come to the gates of a house
There where it is said that ventures not even an ignorant mouse
For there does be a house so haunted
Inhabited by the spirit of the one who lived there
An old man who wanted not to be dead
An old man who had wanted to live always, as one so young and fair
I looked at my friend and she looked at me
We both smiled at each other snugly
Who does believe in ghosts
Are humans not this world's only hosts
We boldly walked in the front yard of the dark house
We sat up on the porch
Cracked some jokes
And ate some candies
Oh scary wonder! Oh blood freezing happening
The front door opened by itself and to us seemed to be beckoning
We stood, petrified
Feeling our stomachs lurch
Come in, sang a raspy voice
Come in and make yourselves at ease
I shall give you a million candies
Come in, you shall not regret it, said the voice
My friend took my hand and pulled me in
I wanted to run, for I am frail in skin
The door closed behind us
And we found ourselves, with death in face!
It was so gross, looking like a zombie with a dissolving face
It's eyes were so yellow
It had blackened teeth
And it had claws on its hands and feet
I will eat you up, it said
You are my candy, you are here in my land
I gave out a shriek
While it gave out a laugh, so bland
I felt its teeth tearing my skin
I felt my bones crush
I saw my friend fall dead
And I wondered at why we did venture to this marshland!
I accepted death, I was ready for it
But I expected not to be saved by a little fairy
A real one, she came as a form of light
I shall save you, she said, if you do give me all your candy
Take it, take it, I managed to yell
While I felt that into hell I fell
But I did wake up in my bed
Only to find that sleeping next to me was my friend
Gone was all of my candy
My friend was all teary
But we did feel grateful
We had been saved from a ghoul!
