You got it right, Dave:) Pagliacci (clowns) is a famous opera by Italian composer Leoncavallo. Clown (sing) is Pagliaccio. Pls see my reply to Timothy, further down. ~ Best Regards // paul

Thank you Connie. It's a semi abstract short monoku, which I leave to the reader to interpret, though I did give a short explanation in a comment further down. ~ Regards // paul

I rather like your interpretation of your poem more than mine ... even if not everyone got it. Perhaps some interpretations are for the poet to hold secret to himself. Thanks for noticing my new avatar ... it's still not a completely recent photo (year and a half old), but still more recent than my last one. I felt the time had come for a change :)

Most mysterious, Paul ... it feels very much like a haiku to me, where the connection between the phrases are quite abstract. Maybe the sad clown is revealing his true colors at night; everyone during the day thinks he's happy, but at night it's a different story ... or maybe the moon looks like a frowning clown. Cool Six Words.

Thank you for doing your utmost to decipher what's behind these 6 words, Timothy!! The visible half of the moon is the bright side of the clown while in action...the funny and laughing image; the invisible half is the sadness that he harbours in real life. I doubt if anyone would have caught on to my intentions...not even the sponsor:)) Regards // paul

Thank you, Andrea, I have deleted it...changed it!! I went looking for an image to go with it, and realized that there are countless sayings, etc which treat the same subject of imperfection being beauty!!! What I thought was lovely and original now appears to be a cheap copy!! // paul
