Sue loved to style her auburn hair, and adorn it with a cute bow.   Then cancer struck, life’s so unfair - treatment meant her long locks would go. She hoped in time new hair would grow, as baldness may cause folk to stare. Sue now wears a pretty bandeau, her cancer story I now share. Jan, both touching and amusing, which is a delicate balance to strike. You have struck it masterfully in your inimitable style. Well done and congrats! Hugs ~ John

Such an awful disease that unfortunately most of us have had or known a relative or close friend who is or has suffered through this. Fingers crossed for Sue and everyone else. Congrats on your 1st place win, Jan. Hugs // Charlie x

A fate we all dread and it can be diagnosed at a time when you go to the doctor for a flu and he listens to your lungs and finds something does not sound right, sends you to a specialist who does a biopsy and then they tell you you have 6 weeks left to live - this happened to my father! A sad poem beautiffuly written Jan. Blesseings Jennifer - good luck in the contest.

Yes, in time many will know or befall such as cancer. I saw what it did to my dear cousin. But all the more to love the imperfect flesh, hoping one day a cure will be found. Today! Perhaps! I sigh...

The loss of her lovely auburn locks is a small price to pay for gaining life. You pointed out a side effect of the illness that also takes a toll, and you succeeded in telling the tale to perfection, Jan. I got home today.

I lose a sister to cancer in 1998; she suffered with it for 7 years before it took her. Blessings to you and yours for a better future. A beautiful but, sad piece.

My eldest sister was endowed with mountains for boobs, but the more she tried to hide them, the more attention they attracted! The same is true with hair, wigs, scarves, etc., if one is bald, one is bald full stop. Accept it and get on with life. Better to be bald than spotty with alopecia! Good luck in the contest, Jan! Aloha! Rico

After my brother went thru chemo the first time he lost his hair, so naturally being a loving brother I shaved my head. The problem was his hair grew back, mine never did. (lol) i can relate to your poem Jan.
