Gym Class Sixth Period

We would sit there at the end And the boys would be playing dodge ball but It was a different version It wasn’t two teams and a line that separated you It was every boy for himself No lines, no boundaries, no rules It was you against the world Hit by any ball by any person But you could only save yourself By hitting someone else No one to help you but you That’s how life is It's you against the world With thousands of balls being thrown at you Your catching some Your dodging some But mostly being hit by them But here's the catch The most important rule of the game This game we call life You’re the only one that can save yourself Not your teammate Remember There are no teammates Its only you You can only Save Help Yourself So Pick yourself up Grab the ball and Throw it at someone At your goal And get back up Take your life back but just remember Its all just like dodge ball sixth period

When I was at school, it was called 'Murderball' and the weediest kids had to take cover in the changing rooms. Nice first submission, Devin, and welcome to Poetry Soup. I hope that you enjoy sharing and reading here. Lots to see. Have fun. Regards, Viv
