Rain whispering in the gutter - gossip passed along its length all night until finally being silenced by the downpipe.

And I'm wondering how badly the final message would've been misinterpreted if not finally soaked into the ground. I'd rather watch that spider climb up the water spout when after the rain, it climbed up again. Nicely written, Paul.

loved the ending 'silenced by the downpipe.' You all but personified the gutter...and the title was perfect. Well done, Paul!

Ahh there's a message in here but I'm eating a massive bag of sweets and too full of sugar... Quick fire is the gossips got there comeupance and I don't even like the gutter noise in the first place. Civility saves lives :)
