Guarded Heart

"Grabbing ahold of my feelings with outstretched arms Clutching it with my fists and throwing them in a cage Locking away the poison eating me from the inside Ropes that pulled around my neck the stronger the belief Just an inch closer would've strangled me from no air Hopes of ever letting them free would blind my eyes Too bright to light up a room or be maintained Shadowless environments exist only in books, Our story ending covered in shadows, darkness everywhere Expectations of our future began to go off script Elegant furniture decomposed to burnt food, Photographs of laughing faces started rotting Giving my heart a pair of soldiers with guns in hand Keeping watching of all suspenseful actions trying to break in Holding a password, waiting for cues to let people in Guarding my heart from every word, and every touch Never to be infected again with that kind of poison"
