Growing a Family
Throughout the ages each had their own skin
They began ebony, then turned chocolate brown
But with evolution, change would begin
And as colors lightened, each wore their own crown.
One wore a headdress of colors so bright
Some had a veil that their station confirmed
Others a turban wrapped round heads so tight
With hats and helmets, each function affirmed.
They appear separate in purpose and dress
While each has a culture and history
Uniqueness should never bring us distress
Differences should not be a mystery.
Tho each stands alone, we can stand as one
If we but learn to accept everyone.
