Grieg Piano Concerto Op 16
Grieg piano concerto op. 16
Long deep fjord endlessly cutting into the country,
calm is water, there are small green shelves where
small farms claim their right to exist. At the end of
the fjord, where the landscape is gentle, a village.
Here generations worked and lived people of the soil
and sea. A piece of a mountainside fell into the fjord
and created a tsunami, village engulfed only a few
survived, it took days before the world knew by then
the water was calm and reflected the mountain and
had no story to tell. The survivors didn’t flee their land
but rebuilt it. They live enclosed by beauty yet know
that paradise is not permanent but steadfastly tends
their farms goats and cattle and stillness and beauty.
Grieg´s piano concerto plays if unknown in their ears,
the light, the dark, sudden disaster that makes up
the souls of the people who live here.
