There is such a pensive sadness in your lines Paulette that grief finds no solace from compassionate hearts reaching out to help carry grief's load. And a sense of isolation expressed in this poem. Congratulations on your win.

So true Paulette. So ofte4n people don't know that someone else is suffering because they hide there grief behind a false smile or maybe too many jokes or too much chatter. Well said. A fave. God Bless, JB

We cannot show our private grief all the time . We often cover it under a mask. I think each one of us has to pass through trying times onetime or the other in life. Paulette, wish you all the best in the contest !

Paulette, you have written of grief so touchingly in 4 brief lines. Indeed, the sting of grief is enduring both the isolation and the darkness. What a gift it is when there is another soul with whom we can share our grief, and how meaningful it is when another soul feels they can entrust their grief to us. Beautifully stated ~ John

Hide it or not, it never changes. Grief is always grief. I try to build up a counter-balance of happy faces...but it doesn't always help. Excellent write!

I think many try to hide it~your are right, it never changes but we learn how to work around it. Without a little grief how would we know joy? thanks for stopping by. :)Paulette
