Greed
Sycamore branches sway
Taunted by the wind’s heavy breath
In the nights’ black encompassing blanket,
Silence echoes emptiness,
Suspended laughter rings
Upon merciless deaf ears,
Choked backed tears traced on forgotten faces,
Anguished hearts crushed on lost paths,
Blindness or destiny—it matters not;
Shriveled gray hands extended—
Grasping disappearing slivers
Of hope—
Once promised in a single breath
- At conception.
The balance—lost;
Greed lurks in earths’ corners,
Waiting to blind and bringing
Lack of sympathy!
