Gratitude
GRATITUDE
A poem about gratitude?
Here’s my attitude.
I will be quick to acknowledge it, true.
But I don’t want it, thank you.
People who feel gratitude feel they owe, must pay;
No one owes me anything, no way.
What I might do for someone is done free,
Unconditionally. It was necessary, so I did it, see?
If it had cost me too much,
If it risked my life or limb or such,
Maybe I wouldn’t have been the white knight. . . . .
But maybe I would anyway - if it was right.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . … . . . .. . . . .. . . .. .
