Grandpa

I remember laying in bed, Dreading the day, you would die, An imagining of my biggest fear, How would I manage that goodbye Knowing it would come to pass, My tears would fall, Our time doesn’t last. A few years later, I was far away, Unable to see you, On your last day, Pain was unbearable, The long flight back, Seeing You in the coffin, Unbelieving I sat, Now years later Time does heal, You’re still in my dreams, Memories time can’t steal JEV
