Grand-Pa's Place
The snow was sticking in the open space
Clouds hung heavy over Grand-pa’s place
The sands of time rings out the cheer
Stamping out opulence with love and care
The old house sitting on stones
Could tell a better story on it’s own
Four little rooms of randum line
Built for necessity without modern design
The old north wind came searching through
Those winter days “Hard Down Cold on You”
An old wood heater of generous girth
Glowing red hot to win its turf
Playing on my knees, a child pretending
Iron-on patches to be mended
Grand-ma watching in silent pride
Smiles while putting her sewing aside
Mixing nuts for a homemade cake
Sliding in cornbread and chicken to bake
What fine fares at supper we share
Daddy, mother and youngins everywhere
